But space is limited. Register below.

Update: we are full! But if you’d still like to come, please sign up on the waitlist. We will very likely be able to make room for you!

Are you registered and planning on going? Look over here for a map, a list of stuff you should bring, my contact number, and other useful info.

Date: Sat, Feb 16, 10am–3pm
Location: Griffith Park, off of Crystal Springs Dr., just south of the Griffith Park Pony Ride. See the pinned location on Google Maps.
Description: After a brief introduction, participants will organize into groups to draw graphic scores and then head out into the surrounding area to make field recordings. Participants will have the option of further exploring Griffith Park, walking along the bank of the LA River, or investigating anywhere else that seems sonically promising. We will then meet back at co-organizer George Jensen’s house* to edit our collages and share them with the group. While we may have a few field recorders on hand, participants are encouraged to bring their own. iPhones or iPads will work well! We recommend and can give instructions on how to use the free app Ferrite to record and edit field recordings. Please note, if you would like to come but do not have something to record and/or edit audio with, please email dtovar@gmail.com and we can arrange to provide some equipment.

See & hear examples of previous workshops, which have taken place in Chicago in collaboration with the Chicago Park District.

*George’s house is walking distance from our meeting location. The exact address will be provided upon registration.
